Imeelezwa kuwa matokeo ya Utafiti wa Mradi wa Tathimini ya Maji kwa Mazingira (EFLOWS) unaotekelezwa na Chuo Kikuu cha Sokoine cha Kilimo (SUA) kwakushirikiana na Baraza la Taifa la Uhifadhi na Usimamizi wa Mazingira (NEMC) yanatarajiwa kwenda kutumika kama mfano kwenye nchi kumi za Afrika katikaukanda wa magharibi mwa Bahari ya Hindi ambazo zinakabiliwa na changamotoza uhifadhi kama ilivyo kwenye mto Mbarali.
