Capacity Building on Environmental Flows Assessment in WIO Countries

Training on Environmental Flows Assessment in WIO Countries physically was held on 19th to 24th September, 2022 at Rufiji Basin Water Board Office in Mbarali, Tanzania. Virtually participants from South Africa, Mozambique, Seychelles, Comoros Islands, Mauritius, Madagascar, Kenya and Somalia countries participated in the sessions.

Various topics were presented in the training sessions such as:

·         Environmental Flows and its Importance,

·         Situation analysis,

·         Science of Environmental Flows,

·         E-flows Assessment Methodologies,

·         Environmental Flow Frameworks,

·         Managing environmental flows – Management tools for delivery of Ecosystem Services,

·         Basic considerations for the assessment of river EFlows,

·         EFA Case Study (TANZANIA),  

·         Field Excursion at EFA sites and Nurseries (Igawa and Njombe) and water sources, and

EFA Case Study (MOZAMBIQUE).
